The second of our multicultural cooking workshops was a huge success. Kurde did a feast of Kurdish Dolmas in a pot with other veggies plus barbque seasoned  chicken. We’re hoping to do lots more including Chinese cooking on Sunday 1st December 9.30am. with Aurora.

It’s interesting to me as president that our demographic of readers on our Facebook page is 80% women and mostly in the 25 to 55 year age group.  Certainly the cooking workshop also had predominantly women attendees. We’d love to see more involvement in our garden’s subcommittee roles as people take on semi-autonomous responsibilities within the gardens. These roles might be in social event organising, social media promotions, permaculture garden designing, or areas we haven’t thought about such as yoga, life drawing, food preparation and preserving, or just support networking.

Now that we have a large undercover area with power, water, refrigerator, kettle, lights, gas cooking barbque, we can develop many ways to enjoy the space.

  • I had a phone call from an elated Rhondda Daniel last week telling me she’d been to the garden for morning tea and Robyne (Bob’s wife) picked her up and she felt complete after seeing the progress at the garden and she is so happy there is going to be a little garden in her and Mikes honour in the geranium box beside the meeting space. It was really nice to hear Rhondda so chuffed so thankyou Robyne. You made her day and year I think. I have the brick they signed for their garden bed about 13 years ago now. I just didnt want anything to happen to it. I will bring it in for when that garden bed is ready for it. There is also a plaque with Mike mosaiced on it with glass tiles. I think thats under the white shatoot mulberry tree. Ill ask Rhondda if she wants it. Excellent to see the multicultural workshops happening. Judy Quickenden
